I had an epidural and now I have terrible leg pains. My Dr. said it may be nerve damage. Can this be corrected

Question:
She also prescribed Flexeril for it. I thought this was just for back pains.

Answers:
It would be in your best interest to make an appointment with a Neurologist to examine you. If you mean your doctor as in your OB, well.need I say more. The anethesiologist is the one who administered the epidural and could have very well touch a nerve associated with your leg.

Other Answers:
I have heard of terrble headaches with epidurals but not leg pain. If this continues, I would seek a second opinion. Flexeril is a muscle relaxer. I am very sorry for your pain and hope you get some relief soon.

Get a second opinion. This sounds a little like a thrombosis..you might ask them to rule that out. Hi -
I had an epidural when I had my daughter. Unfortunately the numb-nut who was doing the injection missed and hit my sciatic nerve. The pain was excruciating and shot down my leg. It has never fully resolved.
Does it feel like a shooting pain down the leg? If so - they could have hit the sciatic nerve. There is really nothing they can do for it, unfortunately. Good luck! Wish I had a good solution! My wife had an epidural for our first kid. She developed a bad case of sciatica to the right leg. I suspected that it was from the epidural. Ultimately, it got better. Its not hard to image that a needle going into you back to numb nerves can also hit a nerve and cause problems.

Spinal headaches are due to a tear in the dura, a fibrous sleeve over the spinal cord. When this happens, spinal fluid leeks out and they is less cushioning of the brain and when you stand up you get a bad headache. It is typically a postural headache where you stand up and the headache worsens and when you lay down flat you feel better. Treatment is with a blood patch. I had an epidural twice and I have problems with my back and my legs. That's just the side effect's and hopefully with time it will get better.
