What in the world can cause this??

Question:
I was in my nursing class yesturday and I stood up from my desk to go to the back of the room to get my poster. Well, when I stood up and started to walk I had to stop because my face starting feeling real hot and getting flushed and then I felt real weak and I broke out into a really cold sweat and felt shaky. I sat back down and put my head down on my desk for a little while and I was fine. I didn't stand up to fast and I had eaten an hour or so before that. I take inderal hcl 20mg(three times a day ) and qdall(once a day) and I've only been on them for about a week so I don't know Any input would help.

Answers:
Sounds like your blood pressure dropped suddenly when you stood up. Do your meds affect your blood pressure? I'm a phlebotomist, and I see this happen ALL the time. Some people get anxious just coming into the lab, and after their specimens have been drawn, they'll stand up and suddenly feel a rush of nausea, cold sweat and dizziness. Once they lay down or lower their head, the rush passes and they're fine. If they get beyond this state, they actually pass out completely.

I would check out two things: your blood pressure and the effects your meds might have on it. Be careful not to stand up too quickly in the meantime.
low blood pressure?
