its not a pap smear.. its a test they are doing because they found abnormalities in my pap that they think might be cervical cancer
Answers:
Are you by chance referring to a colposcopy? This is an in-office procedure where the doc looks at the cervix through magnifying instruments. It's uncomfortable, but not painful. It's over rather quickly. An endocervical curretage may be done at the same time.that's when the doc uses a small spoon-shaped instrument to remove cells for testing.
A cone biopsy is really a minor surgery done under general anesthesia. With this type of procedure, the doc cuts literally a cone of tissue from the cervix and sends it to pathology.
I really can't think of any other tests for cervical cancer outside of these and of course the pelvic and the pap.hope these help a little.
Treatments for cervical cancer range from LEEP surgery to hysterectomy to radiation, depending on the stage and spread. good luck to you.

its called "schillins test".. its a test where they apply a iodinated dye with acetic acid on the cervical mucosa
the noraml cell contain a chemical called glycogen which combines with iodine and gives brown color.while cancerous cells donot ve this chemocal and stain white
this is viewed under microscope
this test is done when pap smear is suspiciou for cancer
if positive they would go for a biopsy or cut a tissue from the site It must be a human papillomavirus (HPV) test. The doctor just rubs a swab against your cervix and then tests the swab for the virus. This virus is responsible for most cases of cervical cancer.
Search for 'HPV testing' in your favorite search engine to learn more. ok I have HPV. It started with my doctor contacting me to tell me that I had a abnormal pap smear and he needs to do more testing. What they do is they numb you in your cervix and take a sample so they can look further into it and that is it. The doctor will then tell you what it is if anything and what you need to do next. Feel free to contact me and I can discuss this with you. I can imagine how you are feeling right now but don't be scared. Oh and the correct term is a coloscopy or biopsy of the cervix
