Is it true that it is really bad to go tanning or go in the sun if you are on metronidazole?

Question:
I always heard this, but is it all antibiotics or only some?

Answers:
Most antibiotics say not to go into the sun because it can cause you to burn. Just follow the instructions and wait it out. You won't be on them forever. If you need to do it then, call a dermatologist or your doctor and they will tell you what is best. If you need to get a tan for some social function or whatever, I use the Dove Energy Glow and that is wonderful. It doesn't look orange or streaky.

Other Answers:
Not all antibiotics - you need to read the specific directions for each one. Bad to go in the sun period!
yes some medications like metron and hydrochorothiazide do not interact with uv bulb light or sun light well.
