Im 19 and I havent been to the gyno yet, help(women only)?

im 19, and i havent been to the gyno yet, i know i should be going by now [im not sexually active, but i will be], but, i dont know how to tell my that i need/want to do, SHE THINKS i should wait till im 21 or something. Is there anyway to even go by myself w/o her knowing (i live in NY, but im under her insurance, does that effect anything?!)

Well, since you're ninteen, you should be getting checked anyways. Normally pap smears start at 18. Explain that you just want to be kept healthy. You could also ask the doctor the next time you go in for a physical or a cold or something if he/she could refer you to a gyno. as a routine check up. When a doctor says you should go, your mom won't ignore it. another option: Since you don't want your mom to know, go some place like planned parenthood, and explain what you want. If they can't help you, they'll know who can.

If you are that afraid of your Mom at age 19, the first stop is the psychological counsellor, as you and your Mom have neglected your health, mentally and physically, for years!!
