What can cause a persistant cough? Some one told me it could be my something to do with my liver-?

Question:

Answers:
Persistant cough can be caused by asthma, bronchitis, allergies, infections such as tuberculous and even cancer. Instead of listening to "somebody" you need a doctor to determine what is causing a cough that won't go away. Delay could put others at risk if an infection is the cause, and deadly to you in other cases.

If your liver were so enlarged that it was irritating your diaphragm, or causing a build up of fluid, this could contribute to a chronic cough, but that's pretty unlikely. It sounds like the kind of silly diagnosis you get in a health food store from someone who wants to sell you an expensive "liver detox."

And think about it: if your liver is really diseased, you cannot safely just sit around and wonder about it. Get an exam and stop coughing and worrying.
Cancer, smoking (a prelude to cancer), alergies are just some of the causes. You need to address this with an MD in an office visit.

The most common cause for a persistent cough is a recent viral infection. Any cause for acute bronchitis can lead to a cough lasting up to two months. If it has lasted longer than that, or if it is getting worse, or if you have a fever, colored sputum, blood-tinged sputum, shortness of breath, or other concern, see your doctor sooner. The possibilities are quite numerous. It is unlikely to be related to your liver.
