(Women only) Going to the doctor to get birth control pills for the first time... what was your experience?
Question:
Answers:
Telling someone to chill out isn't being bigoted. Someone needs to look that word up in the dictionary, lol.
I'm assuming you're getting the pill because you're going to be sexually active. If so, get a pap smear to make sure everything's in working order. It's something you should get done once a year when you're sexually active. They use a speculum to open your vagina and then they swab it to get a sample to examine. It can be uncomfortable, but it's not a big deal.
Most of the questions you'll be asked will be in the form of a paper questionnaire you'll fill out before going into the exam room. It will ask about diseases and conditions you or your family members have, and it will ask about your sexual history.
The first time I got birth control pills, the doctor gave me 3 months worth of pills to see if I liked them (that's like 60 bucks worth of free pills!). It can take that long for your body to adjust to them. Once the exam is over, she'll talk with you about the different kinds of pills you can get and how to take them.
The great thing is that people won't be eyeballing you or judging you for being in there. It's their job to help women, so it's all good. Good luck!
chill out. They made me pee into a little cup, but I only got mine to help with the cramps. Just remember... take them EVERY day at THE SAME TIME. hope all works out for you.
