Need some advice on birth control?

I tried the depo shot and i gained 30 pounds! I take the pill.. it gives me many problems though, so I am looking into switching too. Try the nuva ring (sp?) It has very low hormones, fits over your cervix and is replaced each month.

first of all how old are you? If you are under 21 then you cant get on medi cade and that will pay for your birth control. But I think that I would recomend the birth control you use is the depo shot.
depro shot
There is only one left .Don't make any sex, only masturbating.Good luck.
It's not "depro" by the way.it's Depo Provera. If you do not want to take the pill, then Depo is probably out for you, too. There is the cervical cap (similar to the diaphragm but more advanced and reliable), positioning is very important. There is also the "Today" sponge and again, positioning is important. There is the combination contraceptive foam w/condom. There are all kinds of stats available on the effectiveness of all these devices. You obviously can go on-line. I would recommend you research everything and weigh your odds.

Do not listen to these other people. The depo shot is bad. First, it will likely kill your sex drive. This is a very common side effect. Secondly, it can cause ovarian cysts and other female problems. It is no good. Standard birth control pills contain a synthetic form of estrogen that mimics natural estrogen is some, but not all of the ways. For example, natural estrogen fluctuations control copper and zinc levels in your body. Taking the pill can cause build up or depletion of these in your body causing long term problems. Additionally, excess estrogen in your body long term can cause breast cancer, ovarian cysts, mood changes, lethargy, acne, and many other things. The best form of birth control, other than abstinence (yea right), also controls contracting diseases. CONDOMS. Good luck!
I like the Ring because you only need to worry about it every 3 weeks! It is similar to birth control pills though.
I actually take birth control for irregular periods and what I take is called: Lutera- my insurance only charges me $15. The real name for the birth control is called Alesse-28 tablet, but Lutera is a generical brand that is cheaper and it works very well. I have been taking it for about 3 years. All you have to do is go to your doctor and ask for this brand (if you go to planned parenthood, they give it to you also w/out your parents knowing)
the only thing I can think of is the pill (even though you said you dont want to take it).
