My doc has reccommened an Endometrial Ablation have you had one?

Question:
I have break through bleeding and am not in menopause. What are the thing I should look for. What is the recovery time? Should I get a second opinion?

Answers:
I had one too but the one I had was a thermal ablation. All the ablation will do is destroy the uterine lining so if you want kids this is NOT for you because you will not be able to carry a baby and getting pregnant is a slim chance at that. There are different types of ablations: laser beam, heat-they filled a balloon with a saline solution that was heated to 185 degrees Farenheit. It is done as outpatient surgery. They use local, spinal, or general anesthesia. Recovery takes from a few days to 2 weeks. They tell you to refrain from sex until you go in for the checkup though because you can get an infection. It can either lighten your flow or stop your period all together. With me, when I had it done, I needed an emergency hysterectomy because the blood vessels in my uterus didnt clamp shut to stop the bleeding after the uterine lining was burned off. If you want, you can always get a second oppinion from the doctor. Any other questions then feel free to contact me.
