Losing weight to get pregnant?

Question:
I'm a big girl - 5'8" and approx 275 lbs. I've been trying to get pregnant for almost two years now, but it's just not working. My cycle is also a little unpredictable sometimes. One of my friends was told by her doctor that she would have a hard time conceiving, but after she lost about 20 lbs she was pregnant. Does anyone know of any websites or know any information about how true this concept is? I know I need to lose weight because of my low self-esteem, so does anyone have any advice on losing weight in general?

Answers:
I had a teacher in high school that was a big lady. Anyways she had been trying to conceive for a long time with no luck. Well in a last ditch effort she lost about 20 pounds and she finally got pregnant and ended up having a healthy ten pound baby!!
It is just common sense that if you are overweight and thus unhealthily, your body is not going to function as well as it might if you were at a healthier weight. This doesn't mean that you should weigh 120 pounds though ! Check you BMI and start from there. This will give you a real good idea about how much weight you need to loose in order to be considered "normal" and healthy.
In order to loose weight I would recommend finding a type of exercise that you actually enjoy so that you can stick to it. Also instead of a diet try to make it more of a lifestyle change. I mean if you want to have a child in the near future don't you want them to grow up happy and healthy?!? Now would be a really good time to start on a more healthy life style for life not just to loose weight for a particular purpose.
Good luck !!
