I also suffer from lower back pain as the result of sciatica. Drugs that my Dr gave me did not suit my lifestyle so I looked towards herbs and ointments. I found an oil called Cajiput, you mix it with a non-scented hand cream or body lotion, it relieved my pain to a manageable level. The oils relaxed the muscles around the affected area making life a lot more bearable. This oil should be available from any of your natural health shops. Give it a go, what could the harm be.

You should try to exercise more and move around!
The one thing that has always helped me is to have a small foot stool only about 10" high in front of your seat & rest your feet on it. It takes the pressure off your lower back while sitting for long periods of time. that used to happen to me. Your work station may not be ergonomically correct. OSHA has a big problem with that. Check out there web site. You have every right to ask for a proper chair that will place you at the correct level for typing ect.
I got a gel thing for my wrists. And my own key board (the curved one). There are chair pillows to help with posture.
