Is it normal?

Question:
Is it normal to have to take birth control in order to have a period? I'm not convinced. I am taking birth control and my periods are regular but, as soon as i stop taking my birth control....the periods stop. I don't understand why i have to have a pill to make me have a period. Can someone tell me if they have the same issue and if its normal? I would really appreciate it.

Answers:
There is a gland in your brain called the pituitary gland, or the master gland, that pretty much signals all the hormones in your body what to do. In this case, either your pituitary gland isn't telling your ovaries to secrete enough estorgen and progesterone, or it is and your ovaries are just underactive. Lots of women have to do this, and I know a few personally. It really isn't a big deal but if you want to get pregnant there is a high chance you will need fertility treatment.
Sure doesn't sound normal.

I would check with another OB-GYN. Another evaluation can
never hurt, plus it will give you more information.

keep checking it out. .

good luck
You should speak to your ob/gyn. I took bp's to shorten my cylce. I have never heard of the symptons you have. Check with your health care specialist.
