I am considering getting a copper IUD.?

Question:
I have one son already born nov. 2006 and am to have my second son in Sept. 2007 (a month away). I got pregnant with my second son while on the pill, and do not wish for that to happen again. My body and mind is tired. Me and my BF do eventually want to have another, but just not at this time in our lives. We both are in college and trying to make it on our own with our first son and soon to be second. ( I am 21 and he is 20, our children will only be 10 months apart.) We are really considering getting an IUD for me. We have done lots of research on our own but we would also like to get input from real people that either have/had one or have any form of expirence with them. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Wow this is amazing... people my age getting married. Blows my mind.

I havn't even had a girlfriend yet! Discouraging.

Anyway, first make sure that your husband wears a condom. Secondly, if you use a spermicide, an IUD, and perhaps the ortho evra patch all together.
I have the Mirena IUD and love it. I no longer have heavy painful periods or PMS. I have never tried the copper IUD so have no clue what it is like.
i cant believe im going to answer this
my sister had one and got all infected from a reaction with the copper
she changed to a different one
nylon i think and all probs went away
Hi,

Don't go for an IUD try to get the Mirena ISU coil fitted.

The IUS works the same except that it has an hormone in-planted in it.

Where the IUD is prone to infection, increases period pain and can cause heavy bleeds the IUS is just the opposite.

The Mirena coil reduces period pain and reduces heavy bleeds.

It is fitted and can be left for 5 years reducing infection due to having it changed and is an equal contraceptive to any IUD.

I have recommended it to many women, who did not know about it, and they have been well pleased.

My wife had one fitted after bouts of really heavy bleeding and clotting and she is also as right as rain.

Because of the hormone and you being young they may refuse you but it is worth asking the doctor/gyno about.

Hi, I have a mirena Intra Uterine System and it is great - no heavy bleeding which can be associated with the copper IUD (can be a prob if you like me are still in college and heavy periods are nasty) so I'd encourage you to get an mirena coil instead. All the best for your next little one!
