thats what puberty is, basically. oh, and if your in a crappy mood for about a week and then you find icky red/brown stuff in your underwear, that's your period.
you start to notice changes in your body, bigger hips (girls), wider shoulders (boys), as well as some other changes. your mood swings might also become more apparent.
