Why don't I get periods anymore?

Question:
I'm 16, and for the past 3 years I got semi-regular periods 9varying from once every month to once every 2 months) but for the past 3 months I haven't had ANYTHING. Is that because I started going to the gym every day 3 months ago? Should I expect it to come back soon? help! (I'm not pregnant.)

Answers:
*A change in hormone levels can affect your cycle or fertility. For example, teens tend to have low or changing progesterone levels. That is why teens may have heavy menstrual bleeding and cycles that change in length.

Other things can change your cycle. They include birth control pills, low body fat, and losing a lot of weight. Stress or very hard exercise also can change your cycle. *

If you aren't sure if you are at a healthy weight you can go to http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi...
Select Child and Teen BMI Calculator (BMI is Body Mass Index, or how your height compares to your weight to determine if it is a health weight for you)
Answer the questions (birth date, today's date, boy/girl, height, weigh)
It will tell you your BMI, the percentile your BMI is in compared to other girls your age, and if you are at a healthy weight.
Also, talk to your mom about your results, she can help you understand them better.

If none of this helps and you are still worried, next time you get a physical, talk to your doctor about it.
well, it's normal to have irregular periods thsi age. i have the same thing. eventually, the distance between periods will get shorter and you'll have regular periods.
but if the problem still doesn't go by the age 18, go to the doctor.and it's not beacuse of gym
I have heard the more active you are the less you get it. When i was 14 i had an very irregular cycle. My Dr actually put me on birth-control pills to keep it regulated. Which was fine. In the end i had no trouble with getting pregnant. And since my daughter was born, age 3 now, my cycle has been normal. I think you should talk to your Dr. They may suggest this if you are worried.
Well i think they r irregular and can come back soon. Don't worry.
It is very common for women who exercise excessively to stop getting their periods.Generally nothing to worry about, as it is a protective mechanism. Your body was wonderfully and miraculously created and it knows that you might not have enough body fat to sustain a pregnancy. It is a good thing to exercise, but as with anything, too much of a good thing is also possible. You need to give your body a break to recouperate after your workouts.
Since you've not had a period for three months, it's time to go to the doctor. Your lack of periods could certainly be due to your new, heavy exercise regime, but it's good to be checked out and rule out any more troublesome issues.
Well, I don't know u might be pregnant.
