Tampons for heavy period?
Question:
help. i don't want to be uncomfortable with pads all my life.
and also if you are heavy...like over 2 cups of blood per period, are tampons equipped to hold up?
thanks

I started using tampons when I was a virgin. And i don't remember them ever hurting. What kind of tampons are you using? Try using slender models with PLASTIC applicators. Are you sure you are inserting it correctly? The canal tilts slighty upwards towards your lower back. Try sticking your finger in to see the angle and then insert the tampon at that angle.
If you are bleeding that much you can try a heavier absorbancy or change the regular tampons every 3 hours of so. (You CAN leave a tampon in for 6-8 hours)
i dont use tampons, neither does my mom an shes over 40 lol
but i kno 12 year olds that use tampons, if they can do it im sure u can too
Im a virgin and i use them.
the reason why they hurt you is because your scared if your scared it wont go up there and forcing it will hurt so just relax they are fine! And keep trying and if your heavy just get a more absorbant tampon you can get up to super anyway!
Good Luck x
I recently started using them... and trust me.. IF you take a deep breath and relax, it won't hurt so much.. to me, Tampax pearl (plastic applicators!) is the most comfortable and the ONLY type i use.. cardboard - still - hurts.
I was a virgin when I started using tampons. Try using tampons with a plastic applicator (they are sometimes easier to use). Take your time and relax, it should be all right.
I doubt you are losing 2 cups of blood per period, most women only lose about 2 tablespoons. If it is really that heavy, you should probably visit a doctor.
If you are having pain when you insert your tampon, your hymen is probably getting in the way. This is very normal if you are a virgin. What you need to do is stretch out your hymen so that the opening will more easily accommodate the tampon. This is best done when you are very relaxed, preferably in a warm bath. Insert one finger gently into the opening of your vagina, then run it around the edge in a circle, gently pressing out the opening. Don't do it to the point of pain, just stretch it a little. Do this daily for a full cycle, and you may find use tampons much easier for your next period.
As for dealing with very heavy periods, with flow of up to a pint, tampons may not be enough to deal with it. You are correct, the fibers in tampons can cause microtears in the vaginal wall; this is why they put you at increased risk for Toxis Shock Syndrome (TSS). You can solve both of these problems by switching to a menstrual cup, like the Keeper or the Diva Cup. Both of these cups come in a smaller size for younger women and virgins, and with the stretching exercises I recommended above, you should be able to insert them painlessly. These cups each hold about an ounce of menstrual blood, or 2 tablespoons. I also have very heavy periods. With tampons, even the super-absorbent, I would have to change them every hour, or more. With the cups, at my heaviest I only have to empty it every 2-3 hours, and I only need a light cloth pantiliner for backup.
