Menstrual cramps and relief..?
Question:
First day of period and i'm in unbearable pain! :O( I drank a Midol this morning, but it was uneffective, and it contains too much caffeine for my taste anyway... I'm new on the subject of cramps, i've only begun having them for the past three cycles, but none as harsh as today (i'm 19 if it helps any) :O(
I would appreciate the help so much!! thanks a bunch in advance. *hugz*

take advil...hot pad?(never tried it tho) um...i donno what else to say but hope you feel better soon cuz i know how bad it is!
I have sever cramps too. i have tried everything and nothing really works for me. My doc prescribed pain pills and these take the edge off but they DO NOT get rid of the pain. I wish you much luck!
Oh and ya might want to mention this to your doc...when i did they sent me for some tests and they found an ovarian cyst which is causing the pain but it isn't big enough yet for them to take. Anyways, good luck!
if you can take advil (ibuprofen) or aleve take that for pain. some other things that would help if going on birth control pills to regulate your periods and decrease the pain each month. also try a hot water bottle.not heating pad.you need moist heat. take a bath with Epsom salts (cheap...you can get at any drug store). and . this is going to sound really gross.but having an orgasm gives almost instant relief to cramps. i mention this only because i don't know you or your situation...don't mean to offend. i always found the hot water bottle my best friend and soaking in the tub with the Epsom salts cures just about anything! good luck..just to add.ovarian cysts typically don't occur during your period..they occur mid cycle
I had this problem..i could not get out of bed for the first 2 days of my period and the next 2 days i would always be doubled over in pain. my periods lasted like 9 days though. I went to the doctor and they put me on birth control to make them less painful. it works wonders. I have been on the pill for my period since i was 14 and I'm an adult married with kids now. that is what i love it doesn't do any damage on your body and you can still have children. talk to your doctor about this I'm sure they could find something for you. good luck.
I feel you hun...I'm almost twenty and I've had super horrible cramps since I was 12. Midol doesn't really help me, my mom is a pharmacy tech and recommends ibuprofen (Motrin) or Naproxen (Aleve). Try curling up with a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel, or if you don't have one, fill a Nalgene bottle or other similar bottle up with super hot water. If you have to go to work and/or class, I would try the Thermacare heat wrap patches made for menstrual relief. They stick to the inside of your panties and provide up to 8 hours of heat. I'm a runner, and the cramps really get me down and make me nauseous, stopping my workouts for a couple of days, but if you're not feeling sick, light exercise can help a lot. Try drinking some decaf coffee or tea. In the future, exercise all month long, drink lots of water, cut down on salt and caffeine (not easy, especially when you're craving it, I know), and start taking a naproxen or ibuprofen every 8 hours about two days before you are supposed to start, it really helps to cripple some of the nastier cramps before they get to you. Good luck and feel better girl!
Eating bananas really helps or anything with vitamin b6.
Avoiding salty, sugary, or fatty foods.
This maybe on the bottom of the cramp relief list... light exercise -(which releases endorphins, the body’s own natural painkillers)-
things such as yoga, streching, or a short walk.
heat... hot pad, hot tea, hot baths
I think aleve is the best OTC to take.
Hope this helps.
