Endometriosis & weight gain?
Question:
Could this have anything to do with gaining about 2 lbs a month, even though I haven't changed my diet?
Answers:
I also suffer from Endo and have gained some weight while dealing w/ this illness. You didn't say if you were on anything for the Endo, such as birth control, but those can also cause some weight gain. The last medicine I was put on was called Danazol and I was Always hungry while taking it. I put on almost 20 pounds in the 2 1/2 months I was on it. Once I decided to stop taking it and the doctor switched me to the meds I am on now...the pounds melted away, and I even lost more weight then I had gained. Talk w/ your doctor to see what meds if any will help you deal w/ the Endo, but also cause the least weight gain. It can be done...I am proof. :)
Endo can play havoc with your body and hormones. If you are taking any of the meds they prescribe for it, count on weight gain, mood swings, chronic depression, suicidal tendancies. crying jags, feeling like crap. Also, watch out for estrogen, as it causes extreme weight gain. Go to a good OBGYN who specializes in this and see about lasar surjury. Its the only way to get rid of this, and then go on monitored meds. Severe cases require hysterectomy, but they have to be really severe before you go that route. No reversals in hysterectomies. Laser offers the least invasive, quickest recoveries over laparotomy that is more invasive, bigger scars and longer recovery times. Don't let them put you on anything without them monitoring you at least once a month. Those are strong drugs, and if you have side effects, speak up. No reason to put up with bad side effects ever.
