did u follow the instructions that came in the box?
ummmm.how does it hurt? its just tiny and short...maybe youre not just use to it...try to use it for 3 days and if it is still hurts then use the pad...
Tampons were uncomfortable for me, so when I first started using them I would dip them in 100% pure mineral oil, or a personal lubricant and found that worked quite well and comfort was not a problem.
Some Tampons don't fit every girls body structure. If you don't like the way pads feel, you may want to try tampon lights. Make sure when putting it in you put it in at an angle and take it out at an angle.
It shouldn't hurt. You might of not inserted it correctly. Push it in slowly and in all the way so you feel only the string hanging out. If it's uncomfortable for you, you are inserting it incorrectly. Maybe too, it might be to big. Try the slender until you get use to it. And remember to change it often, like every hour.
I take it you're a virgin as well. So the tampon hurt/felt uncomfortable because you foreign object in your body that has never been there. Don't give up on tampons. It hurt the first time i put a tampon in too. Use something like a regular tampon instead of a super or super plus. Just start small. Remember to change your tampon every few hours. If you don't want to try again right away wait a few days and dry again. Or even try when you have your next period.
Well sweetie, welcome to life. No woman likes pads. At your age I would stick with the pads, just try smaller ones. There is a thing called toxic shock syndrome. It can make you very sick. It is caused from not changing the tampon often enough or forgetting to take it out. This really has happened to girls, women. So just hang in there. It don't last forever. And yes a tampon can hurt. If it does, you shouldn't use them yet.
i started my period last august, and when i tried to put it in, it hurt really bad. i would suggest asking your mom about it, odds are you are just putting it in the wrong way. i haven't had too much experience with tampons considering ive never used one, but im sure your mom can answer alot of your questions. i know it may be awkward, but im sure she can help :)

Use the smallest tampons like extra light also use ones with a plastic applicator that is smooth on top, you can also try lubricating it with some baby oil or vaseline.
It helps to relax. Also put one foot on the toilet or side of bathtub when you insert it. Keep trying you'll get it right and they are way better than pads. & Yes it is normal for it to be difficult the first time or so.
so a lot of the other answers were and are pretty good. i would try Playtex gentle glide slims tampons seeing how you have never used them before. also, if you hurt really bad you more than likely have it in wrong, read the box really good and because it is your first time what you want to do is sit on the toilet and kind of lean forward while inserting the tampon. you will know if its in all the way when your pushing it up it kind of tilts one way or another and the pain will stop right of way or a few minutes later. don't give up they really come in handy later down the road when your away, at friends house, at school or where ever. ( be sure to get the plastic applicator.)
Try using Playtex SlimFits, they're smaller and more slender than the average tampon so they're easier for beginners. Also, they have a plastic applicater so it will slide in easier.

When you put in your tampon angle it towards your tailbone. The vagina lyes flat so first push your tampon a little bit upwards and then push it towards the small of your back.

Good Luck!
