FOR THE LADIES: Birth control question.?

Question:
I started on the pill in January and my GYN gave me a prescription for enough birth control for about 8 months. I go to the pharmacy once a month and pick up another month's worth. However, at my appointment I think she said that if all stayed well, she'd see me in a year for another annual check up. If my perscription is only good for 8 months, how do I go about getting the remaining four months of pills before my annual check up? Do I have to go in from another appointment to get it reissued?
Please help. This is the first time I've ever been on a perscription for anything perpetual, so how do I get it reissued?

Answers:
when you are out of refills, you can call your doctor and ask for a refill. if she says you need another appt before she issues a refill, then see her again, but she probably will just call in a prescription to your pharmacy because you only need a yearly exam for this.

Also, when you call in for a refill on the last one, the pharmacy will usually send a refill request to your doctor anyway.

Next time you go in for your annual exam, ask for a year's worth prescription.
Call the Dr and see if she will call you another prescription in and explain. I can't think of any reason she would no do this, especially since you have a scheduled appointment.
Just give them a call and let them know what you just wrote here. They'll call in a refill to your pharmacy for another four months. When you go in for your annual, she'll probably give you a year's subscription.
You can just have the pharmacy call the dr. to authorize a refill on the Rx.
Call your ob/gyn doctor over phone to write a prescription then it is usually available to pick up on following day. Also you can have your current pharmacist call your ob/gyn to refill the prescription.
Ask your pharmacist to place a call to your doctor and ask her/him about the prescription. She/he has a better chance of actually speaking with the doctor. Alternatively, you could call your doctor's office and explain the problem. They should make a note and pass it on to your doctor, she/he would then either call you or call a prescription in to the pharmacy.
Same thing for me - the pharmacy will call your doctor and get the OK to keep giving you the perscription. You dont have to do anything but call the parmacy when your almost out, just like normal.
I've had this same thing happen to me, it could be that your doctor wants to see you, to find out how the prescription is working for you. If he doesn't want to see you till your next check up then call and find out if you can get 4 more months because he only gave you 8
Usually the pharmasy will call the doctor after the 8th month and get the prescription each month until you go back.
