Mensturation after pregnancy.?

Question:
I had my daughter on July 2. I bled for about 3 weeks and then stopped for about 4 days. I have started bleeding again but this time its bright red and its ALOTto the point i'm having to change my pad every couple of hours. Is this my period? Is it normal to be this heavy? I also started on birth control (the Nuvaring). Could the bc be causing the heavy bleeding? I am also having cramps worse than any cramps I have EVER had in my life. I do not want to call the doctor unnecessarily.any knowledge on menstural cyces after pregnancy?

Answers:
Call your doc immediately. The bleeding sounds more heavy than normal, and period blood is rarely bright red. Better to call the doc unnecessarily to be safe, than not and it end up being serious.
I would talk to your doctor about this in case there's a problem of some kind - because of the cramps as much as the bleeding.
I think you need a doctor hun.
If you are bleeding that heavily, and haven't experienced anything like that before, you should definately go to the doctor. Bleeding that much can cause anemia. There could also be an issue going on related to giving birth that wasn't previously detected. Doctors have heard everything, and you should check something out if you're concerned. Better to have the doctor tell you it's normal than for you to not ask and become horribly ill.
