Is it normal to have a period that acts like it's coming, but never really has?

Question:

I am due for my period any day now. The moment I think I'm gonna start getting it, and bleed just a little...it stops. I get a drop of blood, think it's gonna come full force this time, and then I don't see another drop for another day. It's been doing this for about 4 days now.

Is this common? I am guessing it's coming up soon and maybe it's just teasing me. Or is this common for people who are pregnant? I did have sex right before this started, (like the day it started) but it was protected.

lol. I didn't mean for this to sound like a classic "am I pregnant" question. I am just wonderin if this happens to a lot of women?

Well, yeah that's happened to me when I was wearing pads, because I was always thinking about when the blood was going to come. But these days I use tampons, and when I notice a little blood, I stick it in and forget about it for a few hours.

Yea, it happened to me when I was pregnant. Did you only have sex once before?? I'd take a pregnancy test. PMS and early pregnancy feel exactly the same.
