PCOS Weight Difficulties?

Question:
I have PCOS, and I've been trying to lose weight for a long time, to correct the situation and for my personnal satisfaction. I'm 5"3 and 176 lbs, so I am not morbidly obese but I do need to lose weight.

I'm on a fairly strict diet (low starch-low animal products/low fat-low sugar), and I exercise regularly. However I seem to be stuck at one point, I have weighed the same thing for over 4 years, no matter how I eat/exercise. I have tried several programs with no success.

Is it possible that my hard time losing weight is caused directly by the imbalance my PCOS causes to my body?
Is there anybody else that was in the same siuation and who managed a successful significant weight loss? I would really like to know how you did it.

Answers:
ok so I have PCOS too and a weight problem, My gyno put me on 2000mg metformin and I have lost a lot of weight( with diet and excercise) It's because of the imbalance of hormones and insulin for some. Before these meds I was the same couldn't lose weight for the life of me!
im not sure how to help the doctors should though good luck
