Q:WOMEN ONLY! I'M 14 ON SATURDAY, AND I NEED TO KNOW IF...?
Question:
I've been having discharge for about a year now, and have pubic hair, also my breasts have started to develop.
Am I normal? Will they ever start? Is it embarrassing telling your Mum? What if my mum just says like "oh, ok..." or "im too busy to deal with this at the moment, deal with it yourself!" :( Is it embarrassing walking into a shop and buying sanitary stuff? Which are better - tampons or pads, and also do pads leak? Does it hurt to have your period?
Sorry about all the questions, please HELP ME!!!
Answers:
Oh, dear. You really do need to ask your mom for some help. Anything is considered normal for this time of life. Some girls start as early as 9 or 10 years of age, others quite later than you are now. for me it was around 12 or so.
You will probably want to start with pads. They are non-invasive and won't hurt you. Cramps may. I used to have quite horrible cramping pain, enough to stay home from school with a hot water bottle applied to my stomach, to sleep and even take pain relievers. Many girls, however, never experience the kind of cramping I did.
You need to get a supply of sanitary pads, perhaps a hot water bottle for cramps, and some midol or other mild pain/bloat reliever. Please try to get your mother's attention when she has time to talk to you, and take you shopping.
She also needs to take you to a doctor for a check-up. At your age, you may start menstruating at any time. If your mother is not good for talking, the doctor's office may have some literature to help you understand what to expect.
yes you are normal look on this site its really good www.beinggirl.co.uk
It is perfectly normal for girls to start their periods way after the age of 14. I would not worry about it at this point in time. The first time you buy sanitary napkins it can be very uncomfortable but remember that you are among many other young ladies that feel uncomfortable. Some gals have cramps with their periods but there are over the counter meds that help with the cramps. You will have your period sooner than you think.
look your normal everyones body is diffrent but if you have started having discharge your period is soon to follow, and yes first few times you buy pads its a little embarrassing but just make sure you get a woman at the checkout counter cause all women use tampons and pads and im sure if you went to your mother she would be glad to talk with you. and dont freak out if you have a light flow first few times thats normal as well. dont worry
Hi,
Pl. relex this normal. You are a young girl of just 14 years . This is your Puberty period .
Puberty is the time when the body changes from that of a child to that of an adult. These changes are brought about by chemicals in the body called hormones.
Changes in Girls
Puberty is the time when a girl becomes physically able to have babies. Puberty generally happens earlier in a girl than it does in a boy, commonly between 9 and 14 years of age. This is the reason why girls may be taller and may act more mature than boys for a few years until the boys catch up. The following changes take place in the body:
Breasts: The breasts start to develop, and small, tender lumps appear under one or both nipples that get bigger over the next few years. It is common for one breast to be larger than the other initially. Later they even out as they reach their final size and shape. Girls, therefore, need to wear a bra, an experience that may be exciting as well as embarrassing in the beginning.
Hair: Soft, curly hair grow in the pubic area, the area between the legs. Hair also appear under the arms and on the legs.
Body shape: Hips become wider and the body begins to deposit fat on the stomach, buttocks, and the legs. This gives the woman's body a more curvaceous shape.
Skin: The skin may get more oily and sweats more. Pimples may appear and are called acne.
Menstruation: Menstrual "periods" begin in most girls between 9 and 16 years of age. During the menstrual period a blood-like fluid flows out of the vagina. This is a monthly discharge and requires a girl to wear some kind of sanitary pad or tampon to absorb this fluid and keep it from soiling the clothes. Pads have adhesive strips and are worn inside the panties. Tampons are placed inside the vagina.
In the beginning the periods are irregular and scanty or heavy. Later they become regular. Most periods last from 3 to 7 days. After the period, there may be a day or two of light bleeding, called spotting. This is normal.
If bleeding occurs regularly between periods, the doctor must be consulted. Menstrual periods do not necessarily limit ones activities like swimming, sports, riding, or gym classes. Exercises help get rid of other discomforts that may be present during the periods. These include:
cramps
bloating
soreness or swelling in the breasts
headaches
sudden mood changes or irritability
depression
Emotional changes during puberty
Besides the many physical changes that occur during puberty, many emotional changes take place as well. Relationships with others may begin to change. Children begin to separate more from parents and identify with other children of the same age. Children begin to feel self-conscious about their bodies and the way they look. Comparisons begin with self and other children. One must remember that everyone goes through puberty at a different pace and eventually, everyone catches up. During this time, children also become more aware of their sexuality.

hi! yep u r normal, only start fearing when u r 18 and have no periods yet! some starts it early, some later. one of my classmates had her first period at 11!! i had it at 13, so u still have plenty of time, dont worry. and it may be embarrassing to tell ur mum, but its necessary. anyway, i guess she would know if u had periods. on that day i only said to her: mum, my panties r bloody. then she bought me some pads. and yes, it may hurt when u r on menses. ur tummy may hurt so much that u need a painkiller, or it may not hurt at all. and it is embarassing at first to buy sanitary stuff, at least when i first bought pads by myself, i felt very nervous. later u realise there s nothing wrong in it, no one will think anythign if u buy pads. anyway, i personally think tampons r much better than pads. pads r really disgusting, and its not a gud feeling to know u r sitting in ur own blood. especially at night, u may have accidents like making ur panty and bedclothes bloody too. but as a virgin they say u should not use tampons becouse of ur hymen. but there r new little tampons ( never ever buy any **** cheap tampons, only buy O.b.!!) like miny flow, which should not break ur hymen. i hope i have answered all of ur questions :) and dont look forward to it, be happy till u have no problems like counting the days, whether u can go to that trip, or u ll be on menses, whether u can sleep at ur best friends, or whether u can go to swim ;-)
No one can ever tell you when your going to started your period but I think it will be soon. It will start and you are normal sometimes it is years before girls start there period and the could have had breast development and pubic hair a while before hand. Try not and be embarrassed about buying your pads or tampons its normal. I think to start of with try pads and its rare that they leak but a good tip is to where dark knickers and trousers or what ever your wearing on bottom. Good luck and congratulations when it happens.
People start their periods at different times, it does not make you abnormal not to have started you period yet. Moms understand as they have been in the same situation, so don't be worried about telling your mom. You may get cramps before and during your period these can hurt but you can buy pills that ease the pain. Personally i think tampons are better as they are more convenient, you can swim with them and so on. But when you first start pads are better. Just don't worry. :)
