Options for birth control besides the pill or condoms?

Question:
The pill makes me sick (strangely enough, it worsens my depression rather then hurting my stomach. I'd rather not have any kind of hormone based bc if at all possible), and my boyfriend can't use condoms (not for lack of trying). Apparently IUD's and injections aren't available in my state (Maine). Do I have any other options? Let me know- thanks!

Answers:

You can go to your gynecologist and ask her for a diaphragm.
The diaphragm is a cervical barrier type of birth control. It is a soft latex or silicone dome with a spring molded into the rim. The spring creates a seal against the walls of the vagina.
What about a diaphragm?

the most effective way to avoid pregnancy (after abstinence, which you already know) is taking the pill or some other type of hormone replacement such as injections or using the contraceptive patch which most all have possible side effects. you can read about different forms of birth control along with and all the important info here: http://www.condomdepot.com/learn/guide-b... just because one type or brand of pill made you sick doesn't mean you'll have the same side effects with others. you can tell your gyno your issues with that pill you're presently taking and she could find you another one (i tried 3 or 4 different pills until i found the one for me) with levels of hormone and possiblly lessen the side effects. why can't your boyfriend use condoms? there is absolutely no excuse for not using condoms. condoms come in all different sizes and when used correctly as shown here: http://www.condomdepot.com/learn/how-to. they are YOUR only protection for reducing the risk of contracting s.t.i./s.t.d.'s (sexually transmitted infection/sexually transmitted diseases) besides abstinence. so my advice would be to tallk to your gyno and ask for a different type of pill as well as use condoms whenever you engage in any sexual activity.
