My doctor says to take iron??


Question:
Even though I eat very healthy, and eat red meat about once a week, he says I am anemic. He also says it's more common in women than men. Why is that? He also said I won't be as tired. What is it with iron that makes it so important for us women??

women need extra iron because we have a period every month that causes us to loose blood and therefore loose iron...iron is important because it is what helps our bood to carry oxygen to our brain and the rest of our body...so, low iron = low oxygen.
I have a lot of friends who take iron supplements or One A Day for Women (has added iron). When that lovely time of the month arrives, you lose blood. For me, taking the One A Day helps me keep my energy during that time and eases the light headedness that goes along with it. Regular iron supplements can make you nauseous. That's why I opted to use the One A Day.
