What age to use tampons?
Question:

Her body was ready to minute she got her first period. It depends on when she is comfortable with the idea of inserting a tampon. Make sure she reads all the instructions and learns the warning signs of TSS (although it is VERY RARE, it can happen). Tell her that she shouldn't leave a tampon in for longer than 6-8 hours and if it hurts, that means it isn't in all the way.
You really DON"T have to talk to a doctor. Women and girls have been using them since the ancient Egyptians made them out of lint and wood (OW!)

For beggining users I'd recommend a slender tampon with a plastic applicator.
I don't think she should because I am a little older than her and they are all to big for me, so there is no way that they would be comfortable for her
if she is disapointed that she cannot swim try having her use them now. if she has gotton her period she can start using tampons. if you have no clue how to use them and dont undertsand the directions on the box consult your doctor. also try getting the smallest tampons possible because she is still very small
If your daughter feels that she could use them, well might be better than towels, so long as she changes them regular as they are more at risk at such a young age from toxic shock syndrome, suppose where there bodies are still developing its can be dangerous, I personally never used them at that age, was about 18 when I started to use tampons, but if you get the applicator ones they would be much better for her, and also buy a good made like tampax or lilets, as some companies use rayon and not cotton. cotton being a natural fibre, sorry to go into to much detail but you live and learn these things good luck. tampons also come in a range of sizes now so might be best to start her off on the mini size, see how she goes then go up to regular.
I started using tampons as soon as I started having periods. It is safe for her to use them if she wants to. Just please make sure she is educated as to the correct absorbancy and how long to go before changing them to avoid TSS.
there really is no are limit to using tampons. i used them from the start at age 12. its more a matter of whether or not you personally feal comfortable wearing them. i had to use them personally for swimming and never have used pads really very often. it takes a while to get the hang of them for some people, but there really is no need to ask your doc. the only thing i would be careful about is that you use the correct absorbency, using the wrong one, mostly to strong of one, can lead to problems like Toxic Shock Syndrome, but dont worry too much about that, there are only a handful of cases reported. i would go ahead and let your daughter see if she likes tampons once she uses them and then go from there. but yah, i dont think that 12 is too young for tampons.

well i've heard that you can olny use tampons if you've already had sex. so i dont think she should use them... besides whats wrong with pads?
It would be good to discuss with your physician. A friends twelve year old used tampons but a quick phone call to the doc would not hurt.
There ain't an age limit. If you got your period you've got your period.Though they are UNCOMFORTABLE!
Well, I was 12, and I started using them after about 6 months. But to get really good advice I would discuss it with YOUR doctor, it could be embarrasing if you asked her docter with her, I never even liked it when docters asked me if I had my period.
Well, I started using tampons when I was 12...when I first got my period. I happen to have a very petite body and regular sized tampons have always worked fine for me. You may want to take your daughter to the doctor just so they can explain the proper way to insert them. I was a tad bit confused at that age and had a few "miss haps". But generally she should be fine. Swimming at that age in the summer is really important and can be embarrassing if she has to sit it out just because she has her monthly visitor.
Any age is safe as long as they fit comfortably and are changed regularly. She might want to wear a pad at night. I used tampons from age 13 on and that was 40 years ago when there was no variety of sizes so she should have no problem finding a comfortable brand these days.
I started using tampons when I was 10. They are safe and they have new ones out for teens who are just starting to use them. You should try those. They don't hurt unless your trying to stick it in when your not relaxed. You don't have to talk to a doctor just go on the internet. They have websites like playtex.com and tampaxtampons.com and many more. Only let her use them if she feels that she is ready. On a lot of days they will come in handy. Oh I forgot one its tampons.com.
anyone can use a tampon.
as long as you get the right fit!
since she is young she probably would need a low flow one or regular!
i think they might even make a tampon for juniors!
hope she can swim while there is still summer left
She can start using tampons during he first period if she wants too. Just buy the smallest absorbancy and visit this website to teach her how to use them.
