The number one thing you need to do while inserting it is to relax. If you don't relax, you are tighting up the muscle and it just makes it harder for the new people.
The plastic doesn't stay in your body, just the cotton tampon. I'd suggest you get a mirror and give it a try. Relax because the more tense you are, the harder it will be to insert.
kk here's what you do,
if you're real nervous you can you like a compact mirror to help make sure you have the right hole but believe me there is nowhere that a tampon could go in besides your vagina. Then, hold the space open and *take your time* push it in at an angle. Push the barrel all the way up... it may hurt a little but when you pull out the applicator you wont be able to feel it. HAVE FUN AT THE BEACH!
It is nothing to be scared about, when you push it in "the hole" it is almost always the right onee, unless you have to really push it hard to get it to go in you have the right area.

its okay i was nervous before too. this is what i did - sit in your bathtub with your legs far open and take a mirror or you dont need a mirror. put some vaseline on the tampon then try to find the hole. push liek you are going to the bathroom ( sounds gross but it opens the hole a little more) and then push the tampon up slowly in a 90 degree angle. if you put it up right it wont hurt and you'll be happy that you can finally use a tampon. if you cannot get it up then wear a black bathing suit or black shorts over another bathing suit and go without a pad ( because they buldge)well only if your uncomfortable with that ... and tampon to the beach and no one will no because the water will wash it away and red doesnt go threw black. but before you go home slip on a pad i nthe car or restroom. good luck!
you have to want to put it in &with tampons comes with usually the box comes with directions its easy to insert once you get the hang of it. good luck!
