Missing periods?

Question:
I havent had a period for 4 months, im 18, and definately not pregnant or menopausel, i havent lost weight or been under stress. I've been to my GP twice, he assured me it would probably be nothing and they would return to normal soon, he sent me for a blood test to be sure, i've had 2, the first one came back inconclusive, i phoned up for the results of my second test and the receptionist said "discuss with GP" My appointment is tomorrow. Is this bad? Is it likely to be PCOS? I've had a little acne after coming off the pill but its cleared now, i have no excess hair or no other symptoms

I also came off the pill in december, could this be what's causing it? My periods came back normally for 4 months though until it stopped

Answers:
Hormones are crazy little things that affect so much of your body. I have had friends who didn't have periods there whole life - no weight issues and no female issues - not having a period was the only problem.

I of course had 2-3 periods a month, unless you are trying to get pregnant - relax. The pill could be the problem b/c it is synthetic hormones interacting with your own.

In a year if it is till not normal get it checked out.

Also could be your thyroid (yes another hormone source)

Good luck.
Four months -WoW ! Which would you prefer a boy or girl?
Nobody can be sure until your doctor tells you.I'm sure its nothing to worry about though.
I had that trouble and what I had was a tiny uncancerous tumour on my pituitary gland. Called a prolactinoma...It just involved tablets, now im all functioning again.. I have also had ovarian cysts, (Not PCOS) and had them removed.

Its not going to be anything too serious... For a start you phoned them...If it was anything to worry bout, they'd have contacted you.

You just need to take your mum or boyf or friend with you for support...Listen carefully to what you're told and ask a million questions to get the information you need.

It doesnt sound like PCOS to me, so hopefully its just something easily resolved..Or maybe hes seeing you to tell you its all fine and your body is just readjusting after the pill..

good luck hun
It could be Pcos even though you have no symptons. You might be sent for a scan to see depending on what your dr tells you about the second blood tests results. You don't always have the symptons.
It might just be because you have stopped taking the pill and your hormones have gone a bit haywire.
Try not to worry too much until you have spoken to your dr again as stress can stop your periods.
good luck hopefully you have nothing to worry about soon
