Why do women hold their belly when they are pregnant?

Why do women do this?
Answers:
Subconcious maternal instinct i'd have to guess!
They do it to feel closer to their unborn child and to protect them.
to stop their belly falling off!
Just in case they forget it's there.
Because theres a living person in there squishing their intestines!
A) to releive the weight
B) to start to make a conneection and bond with the baby inside
C) form of protection
It's a comfort thing. It's to show love and care for your unborn child, totally natural :-)
its a comfort thing makes the bond with yur child seem more realistic in the first few months when you dont really show
this made me smile...i touched my belly becasue it was so nice to feel the baby inside. while its inside you cant touch it until its born so it just an act by which (hard to explain) you reach out for your baby. i think it really lovely specially when they start to kick and you can feel them inside. Awwwwww (brings a tear to my eye - it is an overwelming experience when you feel them Congratulations.

i did that when i was pregnant with both my sons and i was kinda hugging my babys and when i was 8 months when i put my hand on my tummy i could feel a hand or foot under my hand
its totally instinctive! mother protecting her baby! i used to love it so much when i had my bump and miss it so much!! it is just a mothers instinct to do that kind of thing!
