How do you bring up a "smell"?

my fiance works with a woman who has a very very strong feminine scent (not a good one). he doesn't feel comfortable addressing this with her, and the boss is male. there are some women who work with them. who should talk to her about it? and how to bring it up? and what to say?

That is a tough one...if it makes the workplace uncomfortable as I'm sure it does. Yes it can be overpowering and really disguisting...would it be any worse if someone was coming in without deodorant on and had massive body odor, I'm sure someone would say something then. I would address the issue to HR first to be sure it is handled properly so no one gets in trouble over trying to clarify the situation.

When you're her and another person, just casually say "Do you guys smell something?!" ... the more people who are around, the better-- that way she doesn't know for sure if you're talking about her and she won't be as embarrassed!

The boss needs to deal with it. That's his job.

All your fiance needs to say is that so-and-so has a strong, unpleasant smell about her, and it's making the workplace awkward.

i would suggest leaving it alone. i cannot imagine that her smell could be so overpowering that it would be right to humiliate her at work. if it is that bad and due to a medical problem, hopfully a doctor will point it out. but what if its just the way her body is?

Well, I worked somewhere where this woman smelled really bad and the Boss would just flat out tell her people have complained about your body odor and you need to make sure we don't have this issue anymore. I thought it was kinda mean but what can you do?

Steph is right you don't. It is not at all proper for him to bring it up with her.

Hopefully someone she knows will point it out to her and she will deal with it like go to the doctor if she has an infection. But it is not for him to talk to her. Tell him he will just have to try to avoid her if it bothers him so much.

Tell yourhusband to run in his cubical bend downand hided under his desk and yell "YOU STANK" (in a black lady accent) and then have him sit back down and act like nothing happend.

or he can use some of the following phrases BELOW but doing the same actions as above:

1. ________ STANK LIKE DEEP DUDU.
(HER NAME)

2. B I T CH YOU STANK LIKE S HI T!

3. YOU SMELL LIKE A TOILET FULL OF S HI T
