not necessarily exactly 90 lbs. the fact is that the process of going through menstration takes a lot of extra energy. if you don't have enough body fat to sustain this process then your body won't do it. this mechanism was derived from times when food income wasn't as stable as it is today so that your body didn't use extra energy in times of famine and starvation, increasing your odds of staying alive through these times.

I think you're thinking of anorexic girls. The only reason they don't get there periods is because their bodies stop producing hormones. it doesn't have anything to do with weight just health.
