Why do you have to start birth control the sunday after your period?
Question:
Answers:
Starting on the first Sunday after the start of your period means that you aren't likely to be pregnant when you start taking it, and it means that your next period will start at about the same time of the month that it would have started normally.
The pills are timed so that your period will always fall during the week - keeping your weekends period-free. My pills actually start on a Saturday and my period will start on Monday afternoon, and is gone by Thursday or Friday.
You could delay starting it for a week, if you aren't sexually active. It just means that you would have a slightly longer wait for your next period - you'd get it when you have the sugar pills.
If you start after just starting your period you don't have to wait a week for the birth control to work. When i got my birth control i started on a thursday after my period, but it didn't actually work for another week.
Sorry, i assumed. anyway, i was under the impression it didn't really matter when you started. my doctor told me when to start, i suggest you do what she/he said. keeps things less complicated. and you may not get your period the first day you start to take the sugar pills (or no pills).
count the day you started until 8th day its safe.
It has to do with your ovulation cycle, and keeping your periods regular. It doesn't matter if you are still having your period on that Sunday, you just need to start it then, because like all meds, it takes a few days to start working.
i started mine on the monday after because that's when i got my pills, and it seems just fine to me. it might not be totally affective at first, so i'd wait about a week or so before you have sex just to be safe.
it doesn't matter, its just when the packet starts. if it started on a tuesday, then you would start taking them. you have to wait a week between packets before you start up again, and if you don't have your period in between its fine, you can just start up again
i dont know why they say that, but when i got mine the lady said my doctor wrote something i needed to start the same day i got them which was a tuesday or something, but i was on depo and i was having periods every 3 months that lasted a month, but my last period was like 6 weeks long i was like **** this i want another birth control so i have ortho tricyclen now, and after taking it for about 3 1/2 weeks i had a period, everyone is different!
