My brother said, "don't be tense when you get a shot" is this true?

Question:
my brother said you should stay loose and look at a picture on the wall or think about something like whats for dinner or something like that.

Answers:
That's true, not to tense up during an injection / shot.
It's good to take nice long breaths when you get a shot, this prevents you from tensing. I would ask the nurse or doc., if they're gentle (this always helps).
Yeah, if you tense up then it hurts a little more...

Just breathe.. relax
yes... you should relax your muscle
less pain
kinda... i mean if you're not focusing on the pain...
yah its true once wen i was lil i had to get a shot in my behing and i tenced up and i had a bruise on my buttox ( sorry if it was tmi)
but yah its true
I think it you tense up it hurts more. I don't think about it. I just hum a song or something and with my doc you can barely tell she did it.
Yes, because when your tensed your muscles automatically stiffen and the pressure from outside to give you a shot also automatically increases.
Therefore less stiff muscles mean less pressure and less pain. Everything is relative.
yeah, just relax. you'll hardly even notice you got a shot if you stay relaxed and not think about it.
I belive so, whenever I get a shot I keep my head turned away, my arm relaxed and thing about something else. It seems to help.
