Herpes and hpv//pap smear?

Question:
okay so i had a pap smear a few days ago, well i asked them did it check for all STD's [of course not HIV]..& they told me that it checked for everything except herpes and HPV..is this true? i thought it checked those also, but they said the only way they can check for those is if you come in with a sore??

Answers:
HPV and Herpes will not show up on a pap smear unless they are present at the time that the pap smear is done. They can stay in dormant state, which makes them undetectable. I would get in immediately if you ever have any sores down there, so that they can test you at that time. I don't think you really have anything to worry about, unless you've previously had unexplained sores in that area before.

That's correct. Because you cannot test for HPV (which is a strain of herpes) unless it is present in the cervix at the time of the test because it can remain dormant for days, months or even forever. And unfortunately, there is no way to test men for HPV, so they can have it without knowing it or having any symptoms and be known as a carrier.
there's a blood test for herpes also
