Birth Control & My Period?!?
Question:
Im 16 & I've Been On Birth Control Since April...& I've Been On My Period Since June 26. I Told My Mom I Needed To Call My Doctor & She Said Its Just A Side Effect. Well Me & My Boyfriend Who I've Been Dating For Longer Than A Year Have Still Been Having Sex..Yes I Know Thats Gross...But Its Not Messy & Nothings Ever There...Theres Only Blood If I Wear A Tampon.
Its Almost Like Im Just Spotting All The Time.
But Idk.
What Could Be Wrong...Is It Cuz Im Still Having Sex?...Could It Be My Eating Habits?..Should I Just Call My Doctor?
HELP!

I am not a doctor. And this is not to worry you! But I was recently put on birth control as a "test" to see if there is anything wrong with me. And what my doctor told me was that it takes about 3 months for the pill to get in my system. (I don't know if you are using the pill, shot, or patch). And he said that if I am still having complications after 3 months than there might be something up. Because birth control is supposed to make you normal. And if you aren't normal, than it is your body saying something is up. So yeah. I would call your doctor. Just to be on the safe side. People can tell you all they want that it is a side effect. But no one knows more about your body than you do. And it would kind of suck if it is more than a side effect and you got to it too late. So be careful and good luck!
It sounds like you may be having a long spell of break through bleeding. (BTB). BTB is most common in the first 3 months that you are on BCP's and will increase if you fail to take your pill at the same time every day. Since it has been going on for over a month this pill may not be strong enough for you if you have been taking it the same time everyday. I think that it would be reasonable to call the doctor at this point and get some advice. Make sure that you were screened for chlamydia when you went on the pill as that STD can cause some spotting also.
its nothing to be worried about. usually spotting is a side effect and since you havent been on the pill for very long you can still have side effects. the spotting should go away in a couple of months/
