I heard that if your overweight that you produce more male hormones?

Question:
but when you loose weight you loose hair? im confused, i dont get it. when you loose weight do your hormones go back to normal? but when you loose weight you dont want to have thin hair...

Answers:
not all overweight women have high testosterone levels - this is more common if you have pcos which is a hormonal problem that affects fertility. Pcos causes weight gain and irregular periods. If you loose weight it can help your periods to return properly and lower testosterone levels
Overweight ladies who don't have pcos have regular periods still.

You lose your hair when you are seriously underweight if you have anorexia or bulimia. These conditions also stop your periods as you need to have a certain amount of body fat to menstruate properly.
Testostirone is derived from cholestrol so fat people have more testorirone.
i heard that overweight men have more female hormones, that's why they get man boobs!
A female has to be morbidly obese to have testosterone problems. Ever hear of those really obese women who don't know they're pregnant until they go into labor? You think, "How could she not know?" It's normal for an obese woman to not have periods because of the decrease in estrogen and the increase of testosterone. Your whole body should go back to normal if you are at a healthy weight. There are plenty of reasons why you lose hair, stress, hormones, anorexia. If you're thin, you won't have thin hair unless you're too thin. The best thing for your body is a good diet, exercise, and a healthy weight. If you're healthy, your hair and your hormones will be too.
the one abt testosterone is true.....it could lead to pcos (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome) look it up.
I have never heard this myself. All I can think that is behind this is when you are very overweight, your glands that produce hormones become under a lot of stress and often don't work the way they are supposed to, for example, look at the amount of overweight people with type 2 diabetes - which is caused by the gland that prodcues insulin (the name has escaped me right now!) being under too much stress and malfunctioning.

I have never heard of a person without any underlying conditions losing hair when they lose weight. However this may be the case in someone with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, which causes them to put on weight and have extra testosterone in their blood, causing hair growth. For PCOS sufferers, I believe losing weight can ease symptoms.
