..Tampon?

Question:
I'm 13 and I got my period 4 months ago. Next month I'm going to Florida and I want to be able to go to the pool with no worries ( because I'm going on vacation at about the same time as my next period.) My mom actually encouraged me to use a tampon ( even though she doesn't herself.) which kind should I get and does it hurt when you put it in? Also, how much blood can it soak up? is it possible for the string to "dissapear and you can't take it out? I'm just concerned about TSS. Thanks.

Answers:
The size would depend on how heavy your period is. If you use a small tampon and have a heavy flow it will leak!! I think the easiest to insert are plastic applicator tampons. You can get a multi-pack so you will always have the right size. It won't hurt, unless you get really nervous and tense, then you might have some trouble pushing it in. The instruction will be in the box, make sure you have plenty of time, you don't want to be rushed trying to put it in. It may also help to lubricate the applicator a little before you insert it. Don't use Vaseline, it is not water based, and will not clean off. I've used a little bit of hand lotion on the tip and it's never bothered me.

Oh, and don't worry about the string, it won't disappear inside you. As for TSS, just remember to change your tampon every 4 - 6 hours and you'll be fine.
You should get tampax pearls by dove as long as you change it every 6 hours you will be fine it dosent hurt at all. good luck!
okay i use these now, im 13.they do hurt at first because your skin hasnt been stretched.i use playtex. they smell good.also dont worry about the string breaking off.theres no way that will happen unless you cut it off yourself.and dont worry about TSS, u only get that if you leave it in for a very long time. hope this helps
Oh definetly use tampons! They work best when they have applicators. I have had my period since i was 11 and i cant imagine my life without them. Keep xperimenting
TSS is very uncommon and in all the yrs i've used ampons ive never lost a string. I'd use tampax copmax w plastic applicator and the junior size (purple wrapper) they are small in diameter and easy to conceal and insert and very comfy. I've tried many and have had the most success w these
You should get a medium sized tampax pearls with a plastic aplicator. That will most likely be best for you right now. I had the SAME situation just last month, and used my first tampon.

Hold the tampon with your index finger and thumb in between the skinny and fat part of the applicator. Squat slightly. Push the tampon up gently until your fingers touch your vagina. It is important that it's all the way in. Then, push the bottom part of the applicator and there you go. It will feel weird...it's like theres something digging into your stomach. But it doesnt hurt.

You can leave it in for about 3-6 hours, depending on your flow. The string shouldn't disapear. When your ready to take it out, squat, relax, and pull the string! Hope that helps!
i just start using tampons my last period and i love them.. not to sound wierd or anything..lol..i would recomend tampax pearl and no the string will not disapear as long as it is outside your body when you put it in. and you don't have to worry about TSS if you change your tampon every 6-8 hours. as for the soaking up thing in about 6-8 hours thats when it will probley be full, if your worried about leaking just wear a panty liner and you will be fine. hope i helped..
