For women who use birth control?

Question:
I have a little question for those ladies who have been on birth control for some time and know it's effectiveness against pregnancy. I have been taking my first pack of Trivora-28 birth control for the past two weeks, so I'm relatively new to everything. My boyfriend and I have had protected sex in the past and I am just nervous about JUST how effective the pills are against pregnancy. Sorry if I sound kinda naive at this point, but I'm just a little nervous about trusting the pills.

Answers:
I have been on a hormonal birth control of some kind for at least the last four years and in those four years have not found it necessary to use a back-up method of contraception. I, however, am in a committed, monogamous, married relationship, and am prepared to deal with a pregnancy with my husband if such a thing were to occur. Unless you've had your boyfriend tested and cleared for any STDs, use a condom. I can't tell you not to use a condom, but I honestly don't find it necessary, but a condom is certainly a good extra measure.

When taken correctly and consistently, hormonal birth controls are 99.9% effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies. If you're worried about taking your pill on time each day, perhaps another method like NuvaRing would be a better option for you.
To be honest, dont trust it. I've been on the pill for a year and i recently switched to the patch. No, i havent gotten pregnant but we also rarely have sex without a condom. Its just a bad habit to get into. And since i started using yahooanswers i've talked to many women who are pregnant with a birth control baby. Kinda scared me out of the no condom thing.
If you don't want to risk pregnancy then continue with condoms and the pill. You are 99% protected with the pill if you take it at the same time every day and don't miss any but if you are not ready to deal with an accidental pregnancy then you need to use backup to be safer.
I've been on birth control, i think sprintec or something for about 6 months... my bf pulls out everytime we have sex & I haven't got pregnant. we rarely use condoms. But you still should! don't follow my example lol i'm just answering ur question.
If you are nervous about trusting the pills then use the belt and suspenders approach- ask him to continue with condom use. Used perfectly pills are about 98% effective but missing them or taking them late can cause the effectiveness to drop to 92-95% effective and not absorbing them due to an upset stomach or diarrhea can drop it even lower. Just to be sure finish this pack before you try unprotected intercourse or just keep using condoms with them.
I have been on the pill (several different brands) for nearly 9 years now. Never used backup birth control, and never been pregnant. I am very consistent with taking my pill daily though, so if you think you're the type that might forget, then a backup method is probably a good idea. I know that the pill is not 100% effective; however, it would not be the most terrible thing in the world for my husband and I if for some chance we did conceive, so I'm not too worried.
well don't use the patch...that's how i got pregnant!
