Heavy Periods After Pregnancy?

Question:
After my first child was born, my periods were slightly heavier than before pregnancy. Now after my second child was born, my periods are super heavy. In fact, the periods are heavier than the bleeding I had after delivering the baby.

On Day 1 this week, I was changing pads every 1-2 hours. On Day 2, this week I'm still changing pads every 1-2 hours. I feel really tired and low on energy as well. I'm using the super overnight pads.

Is this normal after a 2nd pregnancy? This is my 3rd period after the birth of my 2nd baby.

Thanks so much for your advice.

regards,
mari

Answers:
No this is not normal call your doctor. Anytime you are going through a pad an hour you need to call your doctor. This is not normal.
As you age and the more kids you have, your periods do change. Some women experience heavier flows and cramps and some experience lighter less frequent periods. The bleeding you are describing is excessive, and you should probably go see you Dr. Good Luck!
This happened to me too, after the birth of my first child. I haven't had a period yet after the birth of my second (4 months ago).
I belive it masy be due to the changing position of your uterus. I have a retroverted uterus and I alwasy had extremely heavy periods. Pregnancy can chage the angle of your uterus and this may be what is contributing to your excessively heavy periods.
You should def see your OB about it though.
