First month on birth control, extremely heavy period, clots...?

Question:
I've always had an irregular period, and I haven't had a period in like 6 months, so my doctor put me on birth control to help regulate me.I just started birth control this month and I've been on my period for 9 days now... its been EXTREEEMELY heavy (i go through about 8 pads a day!), and there are big clots coming out as well. I'm not really having pain... I just feel a little sick to my stomach each time after I eat and I'm not experiencing any cramping.

Is this normal?!

Answers:
Actually, the typical birth control pill causes hormonal imbalance in the majority of women, either lack of period or heavy period.
The pill has been known to cause breast, ovarian or cervical cancer, blood clots (which you are experiencing), depression, even loss in sex drive, and many other unpleasant and oftentimes dangerous side effects.

An alternative, natural form of contraception is healthier and much more comfortable for your body, some options are to use NFP (the Sympto-thermal method), which has been proven to be 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.
Lady-Comp is a great tool, I suggest looking into it.

There are also herbal or organic options, such as Neem Oil or Vit P, though you may have to do some research on herbal contraception because it may not be 99% effective or may be harmful if not taken in correct dosages.
Yuck...I went through that when I was on birth control - along with weight gain and one heck of an emotional rollercoaster. I had normal periods before I went on them - so the 10 day period was crap to me.Id rather be pregnant than deal with that stuff.
My dr said it "would regulate" soon...if your too uncomfortable, talk to your dr.Maybe theres something else you can try.
