one of my good friends has this. she is 27. she has opted for a partial hysterectomy.
I have it and always have since my periods started at 13, but was not diagnosed until my late 20's by my last Gyn.
I'm not really being treated for it, per se, I am only being given the Pill (which I have been on straight for 14 years now - now on the low dose pills) to make me have periods and to control the night sweats. I'm going to be on them another ten years or so when I hit menopause. I am going through peri-menopause right now on top of this.
I have had trouble with my weight and excess fat since age 18, but I have managed to do better with that this past year.
I was given Sprinolactone fifteen years ago to help with the hair, but I had to stop taking it after six months because it made me sick.
Now I just grin and bear it and remove the hair myself. It started with just an upper lip in my teens, then graduated to full face in my 20's. After having to deal with it with over 20 years behind you, you get used to it.
I have had cysts (most recent a year ago), but they have gone away on their own.
A year ago I found out about all of the real treatments available for women with PCOS, but now that I am 45, I am not going to bother with them because it's too late for me.
