I have a question about birth control (balziva)?

Question:

I started birth control last week (on Sunday) and I started my period the night before. I had asked the doctor about getting on the new Femcon Fe chewable pill because I have a hard time swallowing pills. I didn't realize it, but she gave me a generic brand of this pill, which I have read has many bad side effects...including weight gain of close to 30 pounds. I think I am going to go back to the doctor and see if I can switch to the Femcon Fe. Anyway, I still have my period...it has been about 9 days now - it's really light, but it's there. I know you're supposed to wait until you're done with your first pack to have unprotected sex, but I only waited a week and had unprotected sex this past Saturday twice. I know it was dumb, but it just happened. At the time, my period was still like it is now - really light, on and off type thing. If anyone has any information about Balziva and how effective it is (is there a chance I'm pregnant?) and what the side effects may be. Thanks a bunch!

I just so happen to have the insert that comes with Balziva right here. I just got my refill on Saturday. The insert says it is fine to have unprotected sex after one week of use, so you are good there.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest switching to Femcon Fe. My doctor gave me a sample of that to start, and the mint flavor made me sick to my stomach. Even if I smelled it as I popped the pill out of the blister it turned my stomach.

The side effects listed for Balziva are:

Vaginal bleeding
Gastrointestinal effects
Problems with contact lenses
Fluid retention
Melasma
Other side effects

It says it may take 1 to 3 months of use before side effects subside.
