I've heard some positive and a few negative reviews on this type of product.
It would be silly to wear a pad in water, it doesn't just soak up menstrual flow it soaks up ANY liquid (including water).
Have you TRIED the plastic applicators?
What do you mean when you say "it just won't work"?
I have never heard of a moon cup so i guess I learnt something new. Have you tried squatting when inserting the tampon. Its just because your young,in time it will become more comfortable. I remember the feeling. I would never go swimming when I had my period unless I used a tampon. Hygiene is important for all. Have a great vacation.
I know what you mean!
When I was young I had problems too with tampons, even the minis. They just wouldn't go in, would get stuck, bent out of shape, arggh the list just goes on.
Anyway, I don't know what a moon-cup is, but if you're already having trouble with tampons, then you may have trouble with moon-cups too if they have to be inserted.
It may be that you're having problems because of an intact hymen(then thin skin at entrance to vagina in virgins).
If that's the case, then pads are the only option unfortunately.
If you are having trouble because of dryness, then don't wipe any menstrual fluid away, use it to help make insertion of a little tampon easier and aim it towards your back(breathe out too when inserting it and relax your pelvic floor, that helps too)
That's of course if you wish to give it one last shot, and it is worth it for the freedom especially while swimming :)
A mooncup collects the blood and then you just clean it out. I dunno, it just seems a little unhygienic to me.
I've never used one, but I've heard people saying they really like the cup.
a latex cup that you insert just like the tampon for about 30 bucks you can reuse it. you have to take it out and wash it every 12 hours or so. you take it out by pulling on a little extended part of the cup. there comfortable.
