Is it possible for a yeast infection to clear up on its own?

Question:
More specifically, can having your period flush it out?

Answers:
Yes, it's possible, but not from your period flushing it.

If it's just a mild yeast infection, you might be able to get rid of it on your own. Some women even get a little bit yeasty at certain times of the month, when hormone changes alter the vaginal pH. If you find that you have what seems like a mild yeast infection that comes and goes during the month, that might be fine.

It's very easy to treat yeast infections with over-the-counter medications. If it's persistent, I wouldn't let it go for too long. You could make yourself susceptable to additional bacterial infections.
I don't think so.ASk your doc.
Of course it can clear up, but it'll take more time than what a proper treatment would.
Christnp is correct... minor infections can be handled by your own immune system (NOT having your period) in many cases, but you don't want to wait too long to begin treating it, or it might become a lot worse.

If this is your first yeast infection, you should call the OB/Gyn nurse at your clinic. They will probably want to see you. In the future, you will be able to treat them yourself at home, as most women do...
