The pill causing increased mood swings, anxiety and being irrational about small things?

Question:
I started ortho tricyclen a few weeks ago and am finding that I am very moody. My poor boyfriend wants to know where the easy going girl he first met went to. I seem to take things out on him more than anyone too, and I don't want to. He isn't doing anything that should cause me to be upset. Logically, I know that I am being overly sensitive and a bit silly, but I can't seem to stop it.

I am findng myself getting upset about things that normally wouldn't bother me. Everything is causing me anxiety and I am finding it difficult to concentrate on everyday things.

Anyone else found this to be a problem on the Pill? I don't remember this happening when I was on the pill several years ago. And I don't remember what I was taking then.

Answers:
i have the same problem, i take yaz though. ive gotten so moody and i get angry at my boyfriend all the time. he gets so sick of it and its been causing a lot of problems. i really wish he would just try to help me out, but he's really stubborn, its like one minute i would be crying my eyes out, the next minute i would be yelling at him and almost breaking up with him.
i had a lot of anxiety too, im always worrying about where he is or what he's doing, not that he's known to be a cheater or anything, i know he's faithful, but i still just have a ton of anxiety.

whenever i get mad at him in my mind i know that its a stupid reason, but i cant forget about it or anything.

so to fix it, ive asked him to be a little more helpful and to just kiss me if i start getting mad or anything, cause that always brings me out of that "daze"

-after a few months it will get more in sync with your body too, so it should stop.
I know exactly what your talking about. I was on the pill for acne when I was a teen and had no problem. But then when I was getting married I when on birth control and it totally messed me up. I really started to lose it. I was acutally turning paranoid and had no control over my thoughts after only 6months being on them. It was BAD! I then at the point jumped from many different kinds all of them I instantly felt not right in the head.
So eventually the doctor told me I have no tolerance for them, none.
Messing around with hormones will ALWAYS have some effects even if some say they dont have any problems there's always some. Cysts, fibroids, etc are generally all caused by more or either progestron or estrogen that your body doesn't naturally produce.
But with cysts and fibroids you might not notice ever.
Anyways to make a long story shorter, I eventally no longer could be on birth control, and ended up choosing to have kids eariler and will get my tubes tied at a younger age when I'm all done with kids.
Sorry it's not much help, but in my opinion birth control pills are nasty scary things.
the pill alters your hormone levels so the sensitivity and mood swings come with the territory. The anxiety is something that you might want to talk to your doctor about. That could be a problem with your blood pressure or some other negative side effect.
I was on the pill a few years back and had the exact same problems. I felt like I was only normal one week a month. It caused alot of strain on my relationship, in fact it almost ended. I ended up talking to my doctor about other pill options, particularly ones that have a lower estrogen level to them. It worked for a bit. But finally I just had to get off of everything.
Not every ones body is made for the pill or the shot or the patch. Talk to your doctor and they will help you figure out the best plan for you. But I do recommend getting of that pill.
