Birth Control Pills for the first time! Please Help!?

Question:
Alright, well, I'm 17 yrs old and have decided to get birth control. I'm going to my local womans clinic for it and need help deciding what kind to get. right now they ofer the pill, the shot and the patch. I've been told the shot and patch is great and very affective and everything, but I've also heard bad things about them too and I'm thinking that maybe I should try the pill first since thats usually what ppl first get.
I am also wondering what they do when you go. Will they give me a paps smear because I've had sex? and if so, how does that work? does it hurt? so anyways, please let me know what you think of the shot, patch and pill, which one I should get, and what I should expect going and getting it. thanks ahead of time and please no rude comments.

The folks at the clinic will explain the pros and cons of each and help you decide what is best for you.
The pill is easy but you have to remember to take it every day. I have been on the pill for years, and keep the pack on top of my underwear. I know I am going to change my underwear every day so every morning when I grab a new pair of underwear, I grab my pill. Other people put theirs by their toothbrush. Whatever works for you.
The patch is a relatively new method but I understand you put the patch on and wear it for either a week or three weeks. The advantage is you don't have to remember to take it every day if that is hard for you. The down side is you have a big band-aid patch on your butt and I dont know if they stick well or not (these were invented well after I married so I don't know much about them)
The shot is kind of expensive and is good for a longer time - three months or a year depending on which one it is.
Normally they will do a breast exam and a pap smear. It's not painful. They will put a speculum inside you and open it. You might feel a little pinching but it's not bad. Try to relax and it will be over in no time. Good thing to do once a year to keep ourselves healthy and hats off to you for being so responsible!
To receive any kind of birth control, you will have to have a pap done. It doesn't hurt so much as it is just uncomfortable. I have a wonderful Dr., so it isn't that bad, but feeling wise, it can be uncomfortable. You and your Dr. will decide together the best form of birth control for you. All birth control has side effects, so you are aware. I have had the shot and had many problems and now take the pill. But, that doesn't mean you to will have the same problems. The pill works for me and I am religious on taking it; same time everyday, never miss. Good Luck!
They will discuss the options with you when you have your appointment. Tell them you'd like all your options. They will give you the pros and cons of each. They will not give you a prescription without an exam. The Dr. or Nurse will insert a speculum into your vagina then scrape your cervix with a swab. You may feel a little pinch, but no real pain. S/he will then remove the speculum and do a manual exam. s/he puts one hand inside you and pushes forward while feeling outside your abdomen with the other hand to feel your uterus and ovaries. It's not painful, but might be mildly uncomfortable.
My answer is everything everyone above me just said
The only thing is tho, the majority of doctors don't really tell you how the pill works, and what can happen later, so make sure they explain everything to you about, like, if you want a non abortive form of BC (all the pills are abortive, they mess up the lining of you're...uterus? and that way the newly conceived fetus won't be able to cling to anything, and then die, that also later messes up your ability to have children later on, and can also cause heart problems and all that jazz, so if you're against that, ask for something else)
The patch, ummm.its the same thing, it releases hormones and screws them around, and causes all sorts of problems since everyone reacts diffrently to it.
The shot...I honestly have never heard of.

Personally, in my opion, the only healthy thing here is condoms...or abstinance......bu... yeah condoms won't mess you up for the future.
But thats just me, because I'm weird about taking pills and having chemicals inside me XP

Of course everyone reacts differently, and some people are more FERTILE after being on BS, so IDK.
Make sure you go over everything with you're doctor.
Especially since you're only 17, and you still have weird hormones.
Personally I would rather have the pill which Im on right now. I wouldn't trust the patch cause its rather new. The shot is effective but I think its for people who have tendencies to forget to take a pill everyday. The purpose of papsmears are to detect gonnerea, clymiedia, and syphalis. You have one annually(every year). They are not bad once you get use to them. All you really feel is some slight cramping. Nothing to be too worried about.
