I tried tampons...?

Question:
...today, and I really like them. I can't feel it at all. But it's uncomfortable putting them in, and when I pull them out, it's sort of painful. Should this be happening?

Answers:
You answered your own question- you should leave it in for a bit longer so that you are not pulling out a dry tampon. As you get used to inserting them I bet that discomfort will also decrease.
it shouldnt be extreamly painful, but it dosent feel great. if you cant feel it inside you, then it is fine.
It will be much more comfortable putting them in after you've broken your hymen, and it is more comfortable pulling them out when they are fully saturated, pulling out a dry tampon is the worst. You could have some pain associated with still having a hymen on removal too though.
Tampons shouldn't hurt at all. Maybe you're trying to take out the tampon too soon before its had time to absorb moisture (dry cotton sticks to you, ouch). If it hurts going in, it's usually because you're not at the right angle. Just slowly try different angles and you should feel the right way to insert the tampon for you.
If it is uncomfortable putting them in try these things:
1. Make sure you have plastic applicators with smooth round ends.
2. Put on foot up on the toilet before insertion to make it easier.
3. You can try to put a dab of water on a plastic applicator if that will help it slide in better.

Certain tampons expand into funny shapes that arent so comfortable coming out. I actually hate the way Tampax expands, but Pearls are much more comfortable coming out. Just make sure that they have absorbed enough so that they will not be dry coming out, that is the worst feeling in the world.

Also, you do not have to change your tampon every 2 hours, most women leave theres in for longer then that, depending on how heavier there period is. As long as you dont leave a super absorbancy tampon in all day and all night you will not get that disease (I cant remeber what its called).
It takes a bit of practice to put them in and pull them out comfortably. It may also depend on the type of tampon. Do you like them with applicators or without? I did the applicator ones for a few years. I didn't feel comfortable putting them in. Sometimes it would actually take a couple of tries. Then my friend told me about OB. I tried them and love them. No applicator. Slide right in, slide right out. They also seem to last longer.
use a maxi pads
to be honest, wouldnt it be a lot easier to use a sanitary towel?
