Questions to other girls about speculums?

Question:
I was at the gynecologist the other day for my yearly exam and a question just popped in mind. How wide do common speculums dialate the vagina? I tried looking it up and couldn't find an exact measurement and I know all women vary in size, but there has to be a common width right? I don't know, the question just came to mind because my boyfriend recently asked me about it, and was wondering himself the same question. I hope someone can help me out here, thanks!

Answers:
speculums can be locked into place at any amount of opening. The doctor opens them up till he deems fit and then locks them in place. If a woman has a wide vagina he will open it up a lot before locking it in place. If a woman has a tight or small vagina he will only open it a little before locking it in place.

There is no certain amount that speculums open up to.
im not sure. not that big i would think tho. nothing as big as a baby's head that is for sure!!

actually, the actual opening of the vagina doesnt get very big at all when they insert and open the speculum, cos that is the point at which it pivots. it is the "arms" that get wide, inside your vagina, so i guess that is the real question you are asking. and i dont know the answer to that either lol
