my parents are makin me and my sisters take it and i was wondering what it was exactly for.

Answers:
lol its cervical not civical and i think the shot can help prevent you from getting cervical cancer
Girls get cervical cancer from an HPV infection after having sex. The shot is so popular because its one of the 1st of its kind, it can prevent you from getting the infection that causes the cancer. You HAVE to take it before you have sex, so now is a good time to let your parents know everything if you know what i mean. :)
My mom's taking me sometime...
i got the shot
im 14
It helps preven cirvical cancer. Have you ever seen the "ONE LESS" comercials? Thats what there about.
It's smart to get one if you are, or planning on being sexually active anytime soon.
Hey there.ITs really a HPV vacine...like genital warts...but that leads to cervical cancer...i go in sept to get my last of the 3. ITs really an awesome thing because it will slow down stds and one of the leading cause of death in young women. DOn't be scared. Feel Special we get this privlege. and ask the nurse giving the shot ?s they gave me a huge sheet about how it will help fight agianst 4 diff kinds of disease's in America. IF you go to your local health clinic you can get it for free but at a docs office..its gunna cost you 125 a pop. It don't hurt that bad either. BE HAPPY. and it is better to get it befor u have sex...but if your under 18 any doc will highly recommend you getting it. Because if u haven't had any std it will be just as effective.
get the shot hpv is a very fast growing disease that leads to cancer just do it its like a small pox shot to help you it can't hurt please do it it could save ur life one day
I get my last of the three in October. They have some side effects, your arm will be tender at the injection site. The second one stung really bad, not quite sure why.

Make sure your insurance covers them because they are expesive, but if your parent's are making you they probably already checked this out.

It isn't just for people before they start having sex, I am 26 and married and getting it. My doctor recommened that I get it becuase I had pre-cancerous cervical cells that she removed but I kept having abnormal paps, so she recommened I get it to help.

The shot "Guardisill" is really for HPV, which is more commonly known as genital worts, however HPV is the virus that causes any worts on the body. There are certain strains of this virus that cause cervical cancer, Guardisill prevents you from getting the strains that cause cervical cancer.

Somethings to know about HPV. Condoms are not effective against it. Just becuase you have it doesn't mean you will get cervical cancer, again it is only certain strains. Your body will fight the virus so if you do get it there may become a point when you don't have warts, but the virus is still in your body. It is the most common STD. The only people who are not at risk of contraction are nun's and lesbins (who have never had sex with a male.) The strain that causes a wort on your finger will not cause genital worts.

Some advise once you become sexually active: Ask people if they have it or anyother STD's. If you find out someone you like and want to sleep with has it, then before sleeping with them ask yourself if you want to risk it.
